Here is the recipe for the wheat protein steaks, wheat protein (gluten) is one of the highest forms of plant based protein.
Since making this video I have slightly amended the recipe below and doubled the quantities (halve the ingredients for a smaller batch):
Ingredients
Dry:
3 cups Gluten flour
1/2 Nutritional yeast
1/2 brown sugar
2 tbp Garlic powder
2 tbs Onion powder
4 tsp Paprika
Wet:
2 cup veg stock
4 Tbs Mustard
2 tsp Liquid smoke
6 Tbs Barbeque sauce
Broth:
2 Tbs Time
2 Tbs Oregano or herb of choice
1/2 cup Soy sauce
1 cup Red wine
1 a diced onion
+- 4 cups water (to cover the steaks)
Method
Mix the wet and dry together
Knead for a couple of minutes
Cut into 16 equal pieces, flatten and stretch into cutlets, brush on oil and place into covered oven dish, cover with broth, add water to cover the steaks and cook at 190 c for an hour.
Baste the ‘steaks’ in Barbecue sauce and refrigerate or freeze.
Fry in a ridged steak pan for a couple of minutes to give them that authentic, braai steak look.
