What is traditional thrift and what does it mean in the 21st century? Can going second hand help save the planet from climate change and generate livelihoods for the marginalized?
"बार बार CIRCULAR" is a short documentary about the possibilities of circular economy. India once was a culture where thrift was central to material usage. Now, thrift is seen as a Western sub-culture. The climate crisis requires that thrift become mainstream and deep-rooted again, not only because of the need to reduce consumption, but also, for available resources to be equitably distributed. Indian thrift is still not dead, fortunately. It exists and must be understood as a rich economic weapon to combat climate change.
The documentary explores the possibilities of thrift in India. It covers the challenges of green livelihoods, thrift stores and weekly thrift markets like Sunday Bazars etc.
