DIY Diaper cake - Cute and easy
You’ll need:
Cardboard
Tissue paper
2 or 3 different size circular dishes for the shaping part(cake pans or shallow round container or strainer like I’ve used)
Tape/hot glue gun/scissors
Paper roll
Diapers of your choice
Large stretchy elastics
Ribbon
Large safety pins and Straight pin heads
Receiving or Muslin blankets
Other decor of your choice
Shape and cut your base
Wrap it with tissue paper and secure with tape
Flip it over and using hot glue secure the paper roll in the centre and set it aside
Start with the largest pan that you’ll be using as your base, lay the diapers on top of each other with each one slightly below the first then mould into the edges of your circle, as it fills you adjust the shape
Put a stretchy elastic around to hold then slowly remove from pan
Open the middle just enough to fit over the paper roll
Repeat with the second layer of the cake this one being smaller then the base I only did a 2 layer cake
Place over the paper roll and cut the remaining length of the roll, remove the diapers carefully and cut a little more so the paper roll isn’t sticking out
I wrapped over the elastic bands with a ribbon to hug the cake layers a little tighter
Pick your favourite blankets considering the length to wrap around the size of your cake
I used 2 large safety pins horizontally to connect each end of the receiving blanket
I secured 2 additional straight pins at each end to hold everything in place
I adjusted them until I felt they were in tight enough
Using a second blanket I went over the first just for the base layer, folding under the ends when pinning in
Repeat with second/third cake layer
Add your decor/topper
Using the straight pins I poked through the dumbo security blanket into the cake to hold in place and that’s it!
