The word 'guru' literally means the remover (ru) of darkness (gu) in Sanskrit.
Ranjani akka has been the archetype of that ideal of the Guru - by encouraging every one of her students to practice, sincerely and diligently, sharing all her knowledge with us with no bars or no holds, and by being a person whose affection and love has moved us all.
