@TorontoPolice Sex Crimes Unit News Conference Update 2015-08-19 - Two Men Arrested in Separate Sexual Assault Investigations
On Wednesday, August 19th, at 10:30am, in the Media Gallery at Toronto Police Headquarters, the Toronto Police Sex Crimes Unit updated the public and the media regarding two separate Sexual Assault investigations.
Detective Sergeant Kim Gross spoke about a man arrested and charged with 17 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a Person with Disability. It is alleged that:
- through a third party, a man contacted an 18-year-old woman on social media
- the woman agreed to meet them in Toronto
- during May 2015 and June 2015, the man sexually assaulted the woman numerous times
On Friday, August 14, 2015, Patrick Pearsall, 50, of Toronto, was arrested. He was charged with:
1) 17 counts of Sexual Assault
2) 17 counts of Sexual Exploitation of a person with a disability
3) Fail to comply with probation
He was scheduled to appear in court at College Park on Thursday, August 20, 2015, 10 a.m.
Members of the public continue to contact investigators with information. Based on the public’s assistance, police believe there may be other victims.

Detective Daniel Luff spoke about a man arrested in connection with the High Park sexual assaults. It is alleged that:
- on Sunday, May 3, 2015, at 7 p.m., 9 p.m., and Monday, May 4, 2015, at 9 p.m., three separate woman were walking along a pathway in High Park. Each time, a man approached the woman, then sexually assaulted her.
On Monday, August 17, 2015, Mark James Towell, 36, of Richmond Hill, was arrested while already in custody. He was charged with:
1) three counts of Sexual Assault
He was in custody for similar offences.
It is alleged that: On Saturday, October 25, 2014, at 3:50 a.m., a woman was walking in the Finch Avenue West/Yonge Street area when he approached her from behind and sexually assaulted her
- on Saturday, June 6, 2015, at 6:50 p.m., a woman was in Beltline Trail Park when he grabbed her and sexually assaulted her
- on Tuesday, June 30, 2015, at 10:45 p.m., a woman was walking the Kay Gardner Beltline pathway when he grabbed her and sexually assaulted her
He was arrested following the Tuesday, June 30, 2015 assault, and was in custody pending his trial. While he was remanded in custody, further information was received to connect the three alleged assaults from May 2015 to him.
Mark James Towell, 36, will be appearing in court by video remand at College Park on Thursday, August 20, 2015, 9 a.m., room 505.
