For context, Shawtee is my black and white Argentine tegu and she eats anything from Dubia roaches to mice, rats, and hamsters. I usually feed her once a day and the meals generally include 3-4 mice or one mid-sized rat. I feed my pets live prey because they struggle to eat if their food isn't alive and moving.

Exotic pet ownership can be a raw and brutal watch, but it's natural and shouldn't be confused with animal abuse.
