This is the shocking moment a furious customer starts a brawl with a security guard in a busy Tesco store before being floored by a have-a-go hero.

The enraged shopper was caught on camera as he threw punches and beer crates at the guard in the middle of the fruit and veg aisle.

The footage, uploaded on social media, was filmed at the Tesco Extra branch in Fratton, Portsmouth, on Thursday evening.

The man swinging punches at the guard, shouts; 'Who's stupid, who's f***ing stupid.'

This continues until another aopper who is incensed by what he has witnessed intervenes.

A spokesman from Tesco confirmed the supermarket chain was aware of the fight.

The company said it is assisting police with their inquiries following the incident, with Tesco insisting the safety of colleagues and customers is their 'number one priority'.

Hampshire police confirmed they attended the incident at 6.03pm following reports a security staff member had been assaulted.

Police have said 'Officers attended and shortly afterwards made an arrest.

'A 29-year-old man from Havant has been arrested on suspicion of assault occasioning actual bodily harm, racially aggravated assault occasioning actual bodily harm, theft from a shop and possession of a controlled drug of class B.

'He has been given police bail with conditions until Thursday 28 March, 2024, pending further enquiries.'
