STORYLINE:
Audio of gunfire was heard on Saturday evening in the Al Bayah neighbourhood, as US forces exchanged fire with insurgents near the road that links Baghdad to its airport.
No further information about the incident was immediately available.
Earlier in the day, an improvised explosive device (IED) went off while a US military convoy was driving along the road leading to Baghdad International Airport.
A US military vehicle was damaged and was seen being taken away by a flatbed truck.
