Rai's are the worshipers of nature is reflected by their folk dance called  Sili.




BHURUWA SILI
The rare wildlife species like animals, birds, insects, butterfly and whatever is associated with forest or jungle is termed as Bhuruwa. Portraying the live of these wildlife species through a dance form is called Bhuruwa Sili. This particular Sili is based on the existence of the wildlife and how they live in harmony with each other. This dance form mainly defines the term ‘Vasudev Kutumbnakam’ which means brotherhood and also avoid discrimination and division within the community. It also educates oneself about the need for conservation and preservation of the species.

Bhuruwa Sili, especially performed during the arrival of spring also spreads a message of joy in the air. People rejoicing the end of the cold winters and  welcoming  the spring through this Sili. This dance form is mostly done by the children and youths due to the tough performance.

Since the  inception of Kirat Rai in the earth is said to  the oldest community and also being the nature worshiper the Rai’s community is  always related and associated with nature living in the jungles have shared a close relationship with the flora and fauna. Many tales are also recounted till date about the bond between the Mother Nature. The Bhuruwa  sili depicts the relation with the mother nature which is also mentioned in myths stories
