Generative music is a term coined by Brian Eno to describe "music that is ever-different and changing, and that is created by a system". This type of automatic composition is generally created using computers or synthesizers, though other means of creation may be used, as long as it follows these basic principles.
Here is my first attempt at creating a Generative musical composition using the tools at my disposal. I use looper pedals with prerecorded loops of varying lengths, a ring modulator pedal with random LFO controlling the frequency (also adds a great deal of dissonance which is always enjoyable), delays and reverbs of different delay times and feedback settings, as well as an ebow to create a low drone on the guitar. To top this off, the drone goes through 2 tremolo pedals with varying depth and speed control as well as different wave shapes to further create randomness and modulation. With all these variables, the chances of any of this repeating itself is theoretically possible, but highly unlikely.
The top row of pedals goes to my ampeg bass amp and DI'ed to the interface, the middle and bottom rows go to my Blackheart Handsome devil amp and Traynor Guitar Mate Reverb amps respectively, mic'ed, then panned left and right, so use good headphones for the best experience.
