patti kalitzke and duane bogle were young and in love at the beginning of 1956 when their lives were taken from them. the case went cold, but DNA evidence ultimately was discovered, and the case was finally solved after decades. in 2021, after more than 65 years, authorities were finally able to close their case. as of july 2021, it is the oldest cold case to be closed using genetic genealogy.
