A New York judge has directed Donald Trump to pay $2m to resolve a lawsuit accusing him of the misuse of his charitable foundation to further his political and business interests.
Judge Saliann Scarpulla also signed off on an document to wrap up the Trump Foundation and distribute about $1.7m in remaining funds to other non-profit groups.
The related lawsuit was filed by a New York attorney (Letitia James) last year alleging Trump and his family illegally operated the foundation as an arm of his presidential campaign and his businesses.
Foundation lawyers have always maintained that the lawsuit was politically motivated.
