While at WPPI 2020 I checked out the Godox AD1200 Pro aka Flashpoint Xplor Power 1200 Pro, which is Godox's newest 1200w/s pack and head flash unit on the X series.
Yes, flashpoint and godox work together, yes the 1200 will work with everything else Godox X series (Flashpoint R2 Series).
Seeing this in person I echo my initial assessment, that this product has no business existing as an all in one unit. Combined the head and pack weigh roughly 17 lbs which would be a pain to use on a light stand or C stand. I think the pack and head fashion is the only way the AD1200 Pro can exist.
Godox was smart and developed this with 2 batteries, one that will be allowed to go on planes and a higher voltage one that will not.
While I did not get to meter it directly to a 600 unit, I did do a quick test and found the peak output absolutely ridiculous, I'm interested to see if it's performing a full stop higher than the 600 pro once I get my own version to test.
I think this is a niche product, that is not best for the average portrait shooter. Most people just don't need this level of peak output. However, I think this will be phenomenal for people who are doing commercial work, especially if they are freezing action. I also think people doing volume outdoor photography, such as sports portraits outside in the sun, who may be capturing hundreds or thousands of images per day, will really like this light as it will be easy to stabilize with it's lightweight head and will fire at high outputs for a long time. 480 full power flashes per battery, which will translate to over 1600 1/4 power, 300w/s flashes.
