Wild Camp in the Peak District. In this video, I head up to Derwent Edge for a WILD CAMP from Low Bradfield, a quaint village in the Peak District. With my Cloud Peak 2 in my backpack, I set off and made my way through a variety of scenery including woodland, reservoirs, country lanes and open moorland. I found a great pitch but before pitching the tent I cooked my tea which was greatly needed!
Luckily, I pitched the tent and managed to catch the sunrise before the swarms of midges descended. When the morning arrived, I was treated to an epic sunrise! One of the best!
Nearing the end of the video, I read out Leisure by W.H . Davies. Sometimes, we need reminding to slow down and take everything in before it has passed. It was a great wild camp and just what I needed!

WHAT is this life if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare?—
No time to stand beneath the boughs,
And stare as long as sheep and cows:
No time to see, when woods we pass,
Where squirrels hide their nuts in grass:
No time to see, in broad daylight,
Streams full of stars, like skies at night:
No time to turn at Beauty's glance,
And watch her feet, how they can dance:
No time to wait till her mouth can
Enrich that smile her eyes began?
A poor life this if, full of care,
We have no time to stand and stare.
Sadly, I discovered a memorial to a local disaster that occurred on the 11th of March 1864...
The Great Sheffield Flood was a flood that devastated parts of Sheffield, England, on 11 March 1864, when the Dale Dyke Dam broke as its reservoir was being filled for the first time.
At least 240 people died and more than 600 houses were damaged or destroyed by the flood. The immediate cause was a crack in the embankment, the cause of which was never determined.
The dam's failure led to reforms in engineering practice, setting standards on specifics that needed to be met when constructing such large-scale structures. The dam was rebuilt in 1875.
