In this video, I review and compare the Wurkkos TD01C with the TD01. Wurrkos has added a buck driver, which greatly improves output after step down.

Wurkkos TD01C - Better than the TD01?
General thoughts after a week of usage/size comparison/practicality/interesting things:
• So the TD01C the superior to the TD01, and I'll share with you why in this video. It wasn't long ago that I reviewed the Wurkkos TD01 and one of the issues brought up by a few people was the lack of regulation. However, Wurkkos has a great reputation for taking on feedback from the flashlight community and has come up with its answer in the TD01C. Wurkkos provided me a sample of the TD01C for the purposes of this review.
• Comparison with the TD01 - no cosmetic differences, besides the addition of a buck driver.
• You get everything you need in the box - a 21700 battery, charging cable, and lanyard.
Overall Construction, LED, lens, bezel and reflector
• Feels very solid and good quality machining, especially for this price point. I'm used to that slippery/shiny finish that you see with most Wurkkos lights, but here, they've opted for a matt black, chalky finish. It feels a lot grippier and I feel confident holding the light without a lanyard. Some versions of the previous TD01 had a glossier finish. The machining on the battery tube is deep and adds significant grip too. The balancing point is just below the button - this makes the light balanced when holding in tactical or normal orientation.
• The tailswitch sticks out slightly, unable to tailstand. Large, single button made of rubber. The side switch is made of aluminum and also functions as a battery indicator.
• Bezel is 58mm in diameter. Mine is glued down. It's good to see Wurkkos include a protective glass lens in front of the TIR lens. I have some other higher-priced flashlights that leave this out. SFT40 - perfect for a host of this size, however, I could see someone swapping in an Osram W2 for extra range. Would be cool to see an SBT90.2 or HP70.3HI version of this light.
UI - modes
• Two Uis. Press and hold the side switch for 3 seconds to switch between tactical and lighting modes.
• Shortcut to moonlight - press and hold the side switch while activating the tail switch. This is a proper ML mode - an additional mode that the original TD01 did not have.
• Triple click for strobe, double click for beacon, SOS.
Performance - total output, beam profile, longevity, practicality
• CCT, CRI, Ceiling bounce test
• Intense hotspot with generous spill at the higher modes. There's not much still on the lower modes with any TIR lens flashlight.
Considerations
• Not pocketable - but that's what you get if you want extra throw.
• There is a slight delay in activating momentary mode - this is definitely a mechanical and not an e-switch, but it appears that the activation point of the switch is further down. It's not very noticeable - maybe a 1-200ms delay. Can be tricky to activate strobe.
Verdict
• The tactical features along with the 1KM throw is something you don't see in many budget flashlights. I was a fan of the first one but the addition of a buck driver extends the brightness of this light significantly after stepdown which is a crucial feature in a long-range flashlight for maximum visibility.
