This summer my wife and I found that of the peach varieties we have grown, our favorite so far is the Fingerlakes Super Hardy Peach. Now that we know our favorite variety, we are looking to grow a few more! Another variety on the homestead, Red Leaf Indian Peach, is also very hardy. Early in the season I gathered some of the Red Leaf saplings up and placed them in a raised bed. My aim is to get a few grafts done on these rootstocks and have them heal over before the cold temperatures set in. If all goes well, we will prune these trees above the healed grafts next spring and then see these buds shoot out new growth!
