Thank you all for tuning in last night! I got about six hours of sleep as Nurse Tanekqua watched Jer while I got to go to my room. I stayed up for a few having a tough conversation with another family whose child has not woken up in a few days after brain surgery. If you can, whisper a prayer for Buddy tonight for me. His family knows God so the tone of the conversation was powerful yet humbling to listen to their love for each other and for God. Buddy is non verbal, blind, has developmental delays but he is 18 and well loved.
Jer was asleep by 10:30 but woke up laughing at 5:30am. Tanekqua said he was loud too. I thought he would go back to sleep but nope. He hollered at me, then cried so I decided we would walk with the birds at 7am. I am not a morning person but clearly Jer is. After the walk I made the room dark for movies and he was still excited till noon. We even did yoga and it helped with draining secretions. I dozed off briefly but got up to comb my eldest son’s hair. I didn’t want to do it lol, but if I could make time to do Jeremiah’s, then I can always make time for theirs even though I wanted a nap. Jer woke up upset from nap and it feels like I’m suctioning him every 15 minutes. He opened a new toy and thanked Ms Iva and then we practiced scooting and turning on a small gym activity board. He did really well shuffling those little feet. I had to finish his brothers hair so he sat in the chair and once again he laughed, cried and fussed. This is the most ”vocal” he has been since he got the trach in November 2020. It’s bittersweet but I am thankful because perspective is everything. After meds we now have to finish his treatments, bath time, read, pray and I hope he rests well again because I’m sleepy.
Today we pray for families who especially with their medically complex kids, they always have to speak up for them. We pray that their voice is heard and that they are guided by the voice of God. We pray for Buddy, may he and his family be comforted, knowing that God hasn’t left, He is there with them never rushing them through any tough emotions. Though their hearts may shuffle as things seem to turn, and their emotions go through stages, may they know that Buddy is whole, loved, blessed, strong and healed. May we all never forget that God is good yesterday, today, tomorrow and forevermore.
💚🙏Happy Saturday💚🙏
