Today we're going to be making a South African classic, Mrs Balls Original Chutney! Now I can't confirm 100% for sure this is from the Balls family, however this is claimed to be from Edward Ball, Mrs. Ball’s grandson who down this from the original recipe to make 18 bottles of (mild) chutney.
I found my result to be very close to what you can actually buy in the bottles, but mine was a little tangier which I actually liked more. I see from the bottles ingredients list they're using vinegar & water where as I just use vinegar. I wonder if the original recipe got changed to make it more factory friendly? Maybe someone can let me know in the comments!
