In the Paris Agreement of 2015, states worldwide agreed to prevent the global temperature rise through climate change from raising above 2 °C and to ideally keep the temperature rise below 1,5 °C. In order to stop climate change, the global economy needs to become climate neutral.
The EU is the first continent that has developed a legal framework for becoming climate neutral until 2050. In February 2020 the EU passed an according climate law.
In order to achieve global climate neutrality, we need to radically reduce the emissions of greenhouse gases to a level that equals the annual removal rate of the greenhouse gases from the atmosphere. With a combination of strategic measures and global cooperation, we will reach the goal of climate neutrality by 2050.
