Let's talk about some cults that existed in Korea.
First up, Baby Garden.
The leader called herself “baby,” wore a white dress, and danced. She made up the “baby law,” claiming she was a god and a 3-year-old baby, so nothing she said or did was considered a bad behaviour. She abused her followers' labour by creating a place called “Baby Farm."
Next, Odaeyang.
It had a small following of 32 members, but it ended in the most horrifying way.
The leader was diagnosed with cancer but claimed to be completely cured after a month of praying. This event led to the founding of the religion. The followers lived communally, with couples being forced to sleep in separate rooms and live a life of celibacy. Tragically, all 32 members of the religion were found dead in a mass suicide.
