Reversing a previous decision! 🇬🇧 Well I am getting involved with the Royal Mint again. This time we are gonna look a a surprise addition to the 2023 Britannia coins line-up. The Mint released two Britannia designs for this year, these being the (Type I) featuring the effigy of the recently passed Queen Elizabeth II and the (Type II) which has the uncrowned portrait of King Charles III, the current reigning monarch of the United Kingdom.

Now it was previously announced there would be two official portraits of KCIII; an uncrowned bust for circulating and bullion coins; and a crowned bust for commemorative coins. The latter have been featured on high premium proof commemoratives released by the Mint to celebrate the coronation of the new King. So it came as a surprise (at least for me) that the Mint issued a Britannia coin featuring this crowned portrait.

With the addition of this coin, there are now three different Britannias issued for 2023. This is unprecedented! and provides for an amazing opportunity to collect all three designs for ones collection. This was what I did immediately after the coins became available and this video serves to document this collecting journey.
