I purchased the Firman WH03242 dual fuel inverter generator for $375 plus tax directly from Firman. I later saw it on sale via the Firman Ebay store for $350. It seems like a great deal for what appears to be a brand new generator with minor cosmetic flaws. I suppose you could get one that has been run though.
I broke the generator in by cycling between a 500W load, 1000W load, and no load for about an hour and then changed the oil. As with other generators I own, there was a good amount of sparkle (tiny flakes of metal) in the oil. I then cycled loads up to 1500W for another hour and changed the oil again. I then loaded the generator up to 2400W (the most I want to pull from the two 5-20R outlets) and she ran great. I’ll push it up to 3000W once I get an adapter for the TT-30R outlet.
$600 on sale at Costco with a longer warranty is not bad, but I thought it was worth it to try the refurbished unit.
