Meet the early career scientists who are members of ICES expert groups and find out what they do!
Carine Sauger, PhD student at Ifremer, is a member of the Working Group on Biological Parameters (WGBIOP).
Current methods for estimating sexual maturity of fish can often be ambiguous and imprecise. Carine uses histology for a more accurate assessment of fish sexual maturity. Ultimately, her goal is to automate the reading process through deep-learning to speed up the lengthy histological lab process.
Carine has recently published some of her work in Scientific Data, where she describes the ovaries of European plaice macroscopically and stereologically: [ Ссылка ]. Her data has also been cited in the 2020 WGBIOP Scientific Report.
