Nozawa fire festival was amazing to see. Here is my one minute video.
In Japan the ages of 25 & 42 are considered unlucky for men. So at this festival a large pyre is constructed with all the men in the village that are 25 at the bottom with one hand bound to the structure and all the men who are 42 standing on top. (Everyone is also incredibly intoxicated on Sake)
The village locals then try and set the pyre ablaze while the 25year olds try to fend them off.
This continues until the entire structure is on fire and collapses. Bringing good fortune to the men and also the harvest season.
No one was seriously injured except for some hell strong hangovers!
