A just-released Waitangi Tribunal report says the previous government influenced the mandating of a northern iwi entity to suit its own settlement priorities. The tribunal recommends a mediation process is created to address concerns raised by Ngātiwai hapū. As Irena Smith reports, the group at the centre of the controversy, the Ngātiwai Trust, says they're willing to embark on a resolution process.
