This is a follow up to our Pelletized Bedding Video, this shows the condition of the bedding after 1 week of use. We have a Run-In style enclosure so the Donkeys come and go as they please, and this housing is for recent rescues and they eat on the other side of the divider. Because of this, usage is lighter than if you were to stall your animal nightly. This has been used by 2 Large Standard Donkeys for 7 days.
As you can see, the pellets are now almost entirely broken down to sawdust. It is still very clean, and cleans up very nicely. After lots of liquid waste, the saw dust will get more solid and be less easy to clean.
They tend to move the sawdust to the outer edges so after picking solid waste, we rake the sawdust back into a nice even surface.
If you end up making "extra" bedding, make a nice pile up against a corner. As you clean and the depth dwindles, you can gently pull that unused saw dust into the bedding.
If you are cleaning water troughs, make a bag and just rake it to the corner for future use!! That way you are using that dirty water for something useful!
