The fiancé is given six months from the date of approval to travel to the U.S. Once the fiancé is here, they must marry within 90 days or the fiancé will lose their status.
If the marriage does not take place, the sponsored fiancé will not be eligible to remain in the United States and is required to leave the U.S. immediately.
If a marriage does take place, then the final step is to apply for a marriage-based green card through a process called adjustment of status.
