Check out how I installed the pine risers and treads on the stairs in this warehouse.
I needed to cut 16 risers 42” long.
Earlier I had ripped these boards on the table saw to 6 11/16”.
I had cut one inch off the bottom of the stringers to allow for the one-inch-thick tread.
This meant the first riser board had to be cut an inch less; then once I add the one-inch tread all the steps are the exact same height.
I decided to use Advantech’s subfloor adhesive to glue everything together.
It comes out as foam and then turns into a gel.
I used my 15-gauge trim gun with 2 ½” galvanized nails to install the risers and tread.
2 nails per stringer- really the only purpose of the nails is to hold everything in place until the glue dries.
I actually had fun shooting this adhesive on – it was kind of mesmerizing to watch it transform from a foam into a gel.
The plans call for the interior walls on this warehouse to get sheathed with ½” OSB, so I put some shims between the wall and the stairs that way we can easily side it in place later.
I’m happy with how these stairs are turning out- next up we will be installing the railing.
Let me know in the comments what we should cook next. I mean build next. @hausplans
