In this video, Pioneer Commerical Sales and Marketing Intern Hannah Elias provides an overview of different corn leaf diseases and how to differentiate between them. Diseases she has seen in the field include northern corn leaf blight, grey leaf spot, bacterial leaf streak and tar spot. Bacterial leaf streak and grey leaf spot are commonly mistaken for the other. Grey leaf spot presents as small blocky lesions that when held up to the light show a light yellow halo. Bacterial leaf streak presents as elongated lesions along the leaf tissue, with more vibrant colors when held up to the light. Keeping an eye out for these diseases as we move toward harvest will be crucial to maximizing your corn’s yield potential.
