Had an opportunity to visit this beautiful coastal city of Karnataka in Feb 2023. This was also my first trip of 2023.

Visited some very beautiful beaches, did some touristy things as well had an offbeat experience in a single day. It was a fulfilling experience.

We travelled to Mangalore from Bangalore by train and then reached Udupi by bus. We reached late afternoon, so after freshening up we headed straight to the Kapu(Kaup) Lighthouse. Witnessed a mesmerizing sunset and finished our day at Thimappa hotel, where we tried the Crab ghee roast and local fish fry. The food was delicious I totally recommend the Crab ghee roast here.

Next morning we headed to the famous Malpe Beach. It is very touristy as most people visiting Udupi head to this beach, as it is closer to the city center. You can indulge in various activities or water sports on this beach.

We then visited the Malpe Sea walk from where we took the ferry to St. Mary's Island which costed us 300 per person to and fro from the Island. It is a 20 min boat ride and you get one hour to explore the Island.

After this we decided to visit the Malpde fishing harbor, which was an impromptu decision. It was a fulfilling experience. We got to talk to the fishermen and got to know the entire process of fishing. It was a wonderful experience.

We then had our lunch at a local hotel and headed to Delta point hasing yet another sunset. This is the point where Swarna River meets the Arabian Sea. We took a short ride here, generally you can go inside the mangrove forests but as the water level was low, we couldn't go inside. After enjoying the beautiful sunset we had our dinner at Woodlands restaurant and ended our day.
