Catalonia's President Artur Mas is calling off the region's independence referendum and instead is seeking alternative ways to consult Catalans.
Mas is to announce just what those alternative plans are to be later on Tuesday.
Despite the suspension of the referendum by Spain's constitutional court , Mas had intended to go ahead with the vote on November 9.
But a recent poll suggests that 45 percent of Catalans want him to abide by the law.
