It's often inconvenient to start up the layout and turn on the DCC system when you just want to make a few programming changes to a decoder. You also may be out a a train show and want to make some programming tweaks to a loco. Or you may not have a DCC command station and only run locos at the local club or a friend's house. So how can you make programming changes under those conditions? Well there are stand alone programmers that can be used with just a computer, a section of track, and DecoderPro. In this video I'll show you how the Digitrax PR4 can be used as just such a stand alone programmer.
