I was looking for a reliable, flexible, easy to maintain stove to use on my own or when travelling with friends. I wanted the unit to be stable and economic in use, with a reasonably fast boil time in any situation.
Having done a great deal of research to understand my options when purchasing my stove, I chose the Primus LiteXL Isobutane stove system.
As a complete unit, it's not the lightest or smallest stove available. But it's fuel efficient, resistant to wind and allows a 230g gas canister, burner and stand to be stored in the pot for transport.
I also have the burner only option, without the pot, if I am desperate to save a few grams for my trip.
While I tell you about the stove, we are boiling 400ml of water, which is enough for coffee for 2 or tea and noodles for me.
The Primus Lite XL feels like a well made and efficient stove.
In one sitting it can quickly provide hot water for teas and coffees for up to 5 people, or dehydrated meals and drinks for two.
It packs into a single unit for transport so all your stove parts are in one place.
Replacement parts are listed in the manual so it should be useable for years to come.
