Yoros Castle is among the most important cultures with a deep-rooted history. As a result of the archaeological studies, the castle was built in 1261, when Constantinople, the old name of Istanbul, was liberated from the Latin occupation. Built by Emperor Mihael 8 Paleologos, the castle came under the rule of the Turks in 1305 together with the castle of Şile. Of course, even though it was under the rule of the Genoese from 1348 to the 14th century, after this date it passed to the Ottoman Empire and has survived to the present day.
