Star Wars: Battlefront II is a first-/third-person shooter set in the Star Wars universe, developed by Pandemic Studios and released by LucasArts on November 1, 2005 on numerous platforms. In this game, two belligerents (e.g. the Republic/Separatists or the Empire/Rebels) clash on a map and battle each other, with players mostly being common soldiers (e.g. battle droids, clones, or stormtroopers). For the first time in the Battlefront series, however, you could play as Jedi, Sith or other heroes and villains in addition to the usual soldier units. It also featured battles in space for the first time.

Battlefront II includes the following game modes:

• Conquest: Both sides must try to capture all of the enemy's command posts to win the game. From these command posts, new troops can be sent into battle. In addition, you must pay attention to the count of your reinforcements, because once it drops to zero, you lose the game.

• Assault: This game mode is similar to the Conquest mode, except that the battle takes place in space rather than on the surface. A team wins when it reaches its point goal that's shown in the top-center by shooting enemy vessels, doing severe damage to the enemy's capital ship from the outside or landing inside its hangar to destroy the vessel from the inside.

• XL: Both sides battle each other until the enemy's reinforcements drop to zero. In this mode, however, the number of units appearing on the map at any one time is greatly increased, hence the name "XL".

• Hunt: Instead of two normal armies made up of soldiers fighting each other, one side consists of the native species (e.g. the Gungans on Naboo or the Wampas on Hoth). The goal of this mode is to kill all enemy units until their reinforcements drop to zero.

• Capture the Flag (CTF): Either one or two flags are placed on the map and teams must collect them and bring them back to their base. Whoever has captured the most flags after a certain amount of time or has captured a specified number of flags first wins.

"The Jedi Temple (also known as the Palace of the Jedi) was the headquarters of the Jedi Order from the conclusion of the Great Sith War to the Great Jedi Purge and during that time was home to its major training, bureaucratic and dormitory facilities. Jointly operated by the Order and the Galactic Republic, the Temple was sealed to all but the Jedi and their allies, with very few public areas. The complex would be abandoned and largely destroyed at the time of the Declaration of a New Order when the Order was utterly routed by the Galactic Empire. Upon the rise of the Galactic Alliance, the Temple was rebuilt for the reformed Order under the leadership of Luke Skywalker."

"Order 66, also known as Clone Protocol 66, was one of the series of contingency orders that the clone troopers of the Grand Army of the Republic were required to obey without question. The order branded members of the Jedi Order as traitors to the Republic and called for their immediate execution without question. The issuing of the order by Supreme Chancellor Palpatine caused clone troopers to obey it immediately, due to the programmed mindset of always obeying higher authority figures imbued into them by the Kaminoans, marking the beginning of the Great Jedi Purge and leading on to the rise of the Galactic Empire.
