Nos ha sido una gran bendición recibir en esta primera ocasión la excelente enseñanza bíblica de la PhD. Carmen Joy Imes de la Universidad BIOLA, EEUU. Ella es Profesora de Antiguo Testamento en BIOLA. También ha sido Profesora en Prairie College y Seminario en Alberta, Canadá. La Dra. Imes estudió su licenciatura en Multnomah University, su maestría en Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary y su doctorado en Wheaton College.
It has been a great blessing to receive the excellent teaching of Dr. Imes for the first time in Hermosillo! Dr. Imes is an Old Testament Professor at BIOLA University in California, USA. She studied her B.A. at Multnomah University, her M.A. at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and her PhD. at Wheaton College.
La Dra. Carmen Imes está apasionada por ayudar a estudiantes y otras personas laicas a estudiar el Antiguo Testamento y descubrir su relevancia para la identidad y misión cristianas. Es conocida principalmente por sus libros Llevando el Nombre de Dios: Por qué el Sinaí Sigue Siendo Importante (IVP 2019) y Siendo la Imagen de Dios: Por qué la Creación Sigue Siendo Importante (IVP 2023). Imes ha aparecido en más de 100 podcasts y programas de radio y publica videos semanales de "Torah Tuesday" en su propio canal de YouTube. Escribe para Christianity Today, Politics of Theology y The Well (InterVarsity). Dra. Imes también es una oradora frecuente en iglesias, conferencias y retiros. Antes de llegar a BIOLA en 2021, se desempeñó como profesora de Antiguo Testamento en Prairie College en Alberta, Canadá. Su recorrido académico comenzó cuando Carmen y su esposo sirvieron como misioneros en Filipinas con SIM International, alcanzando a minorías étnicas. A la Dra. Imes le encanta introducir a los estudiantes a las ricas perspectivas de la iglesia global.
Dr. Carmen Imes is passionate about helping students and other laypeople engage the Old Testament and discover its relevance for Christian identity and mission. She is best known for her books Bearing God's Name: Why Sinai Still Matters (IVP 2019) and Being God's Image: Why Creation Still Matters (IVP 2023). Imes has appeared on over 100 podcasts and radio shows and releases weekly "Torah Tuesday" videos on her own YouTube channel. She writes for Christianity Today, Politics of Theology, and The Well (InterVarsity). Imes is also a frequent speaker at churches, conferences, and retreats. Before arriving at Biola in 2021, she served as professor of Old Testament at Prairie College in Alberta, Canada. Her academic journey began when Carmen and her husband served as missionaries in the Philippines with SIM International, reaching out to ethnic minorities. Imes loves introducing students to the rich insights of the global church.
