Illuminated Films produced the animated commercial, using computer assisted animation compositing and special effects software TV Paint, for the heritage and lifestyle brand Barbour in 2019 as part of their Christmas campaign celebrating 125 years.
Inspired by the Raymond Briggs book and iconic 1991 animated special Father Christmas, 'Thanks Mrs C' captures the spirit of Christmas and tells the tale of Father Christmas in his Barbour waxed jacket which has seen him through 125 years of Christmas Eve present drops.
This Father Christmas character continues to be used by licensors and represents a classic British brand and humour.
The film is based on Raymond Briggs' books named Father Christmas and Father Christmas Goes On Holiday. In the film, after a hard day's work, Father Christmas returns home and decides to go on a vacation. He converts his sledge into a caravan and travels around the world before finally coming back to deliver gifts.
