The Met Police’s royalty and specialist protection is the UK’s equivalent of the Secret Service for the Royals and Government Ministers. Their job is to protect Britain’s leaders both at home and abroad. Often operating in plainclothes and armed with Glock17 pistols.
Members are chosen from serving Met Police Officers who undertake extensive training in firearms, unarmed combat, advanced driving, emergency first aid, walking in formation and much much more.
Your base pay is the same as that of any other MET police officer likely ranging from around £48,000 as a constable all the way to over £103,000 as a Chief Superintendent.
However, on top of this base pay you’ll also receive Protection Allowance.
This has 3 rates. The first is a flat £40 per day if an officer is required to to travel outside of their usual operating location but remain largely off duty.
The second pays £90 - £125 if these conditions are met and the third rate is £125-£160 with the same requirements as rate 2 but you are deployed in a designated red country, that being countries with higher risks attached to them.
So all in all, a constable shall likely be on a salary of over £100,000 a year with subsequent ranks potentially earning much more.
