Every spring thousands flock to Chichen Itza to watch Kukulcan, the feathered serpent god of the Maya, crawl down the pyramid El Castillo during the equinox.
Ever wonder what it would like to be there?
This video, by Evan J. Albright, captures the experience of the people who have come from all over the world to celebrate the shadow-and-light feathered serpent as he makes his arrival in mid March. In less than eight minutes you can know what it is like to spend the day at Chichen Itza, from opening to closing.
This video features music from Bill Wren and Frank Ralls from their recently released album, Journey Around the Sun: A Mayan Odyssey. The three songs featured in this video -- "The Lost City of the Maya," "The Road to Chichen Itza," and "Vessel of the Seven Lords" -- as well as ten other cuts can be heard on their album which is available on iTunes and at www.journeyaroundthesun.com.
The still photographs in the opening and closing credits were taken by multiple-award-winning photographer, Peter Pereira. For more samples of his work, visit his web site at www.peterpereira.com.
