Excerpt from the concert “Jack White American Express Unstaged” directed by Gary Oldman.
The “Jack White American Express Unstaged” show was performed live at Webster Hall in New York City, NY, on April 21st, 2012 and was streamed online in partnership with YouTube and VEVO.
"Two against one" (lyrics by Jack White) featured on the spaghetti western-inspired album titled Rome, released in 2011 by the American producer Danger Mouse and the Italian film composer Daniele Luppi, with vocals by Jack White. It was recorded during sporadic sessions over a five-year period at Rome's Forum Studios and was inspired by the film soundtrack work of Ennio Morricone. The instrumentation was done mainly by musicians who played on the original Ennio Morricone scores and Norah Jones also did some vocals for the album.
This version of “Two against one” took place during the first set of the show with the female band The Peacocks (Ruby Amanfu: vocals - Carla Azar: drums - Maggie Bjorklund: pedal steel guitar, acoustic guitar - Bryn Davies: bass - Lillie Mae Rische: fiddle, mandolin, background vocals - Brooke Waggoner: piano, B3 organ, keyboards).
Sorry for the sound quality, there's distortion from time to time... (erf, my first DVD rip)
I do not own any copyright on this material, and sheer edification is the sole purpose of this video upload...
LYRICS (live)
Make no mistake I don’t do anything for free
I keep my enemies closer than my mirror ever gets to me.
And if you think that there is shelter in this attitude,
Wait ‘til you feel the warmth of my gratitude.
(One) I get the feeling that it’s two against one.
(One) I’m already fighting me, well there’s another one.
(One) The mirror is a trigger and your mouth is a gun.
(One) Lucky for me, I’m not the only one.
And if it looks to me like you in your reflection
Plan to add your own fight to this dimension
Then you should try to make it see, it’s not just only three
This is you and me against me.
(One) I get this feeling that it’s two against one.
(One) I’m already fighting me, so what’s another one?
(One) The mirror is a trigger and your mouth is a gun.
(One) Lucky for me, I’m not the only one.
Lucky for me, I’m not the only one.
And if your foot’s on to sick a thousand "yes men", plan to brake into the middle of this little plan…
Then there’s your plan to hear me say, that I won’t play around the way, anyway, I plan to plan around them.
(One) I get the feeling that it’s two against one.
(One) I’m already fighting me, so what’s another one?
(One) The mirror is a trigger and your mouth is a gun.
(One) Lucky for me, I’m not the only one.
Lucky for me, I’m not the only one.
