'The Siddeleys' were a London-based indie pop band, active during the late 1980s. Although they were relatively short-lived, they were influential.
The band formed in 1986, comprising female singer Johnny Johnson, Andrew Brown (bass), Allan Kingdom (guitar), and Phil Goodman (drums). Goodman left in 1987, to be replaced, first by Dean Leggett who was himself replaced by David Clynch.
They did two sessions for John Peel of which this was the first.
Peel commented "the woman who's in charge of the band has a terrific way with words in almost the manner of Morrissey. There are lines in here which make me laugh out loud".
After a the 2nd Peel session a deal for thier 3rd single fell through the band split in 1989.
The tracks on this session are: 'Something Almost Brilliant Happened Last Night', 'You Get What You Deserve', 'I Wish I Was Good' and 'Every Day Of Every Week'.
It was recorded on 13th September and transmitted on 28th September 1988.
It was produced and engineered by Martin Colley and recorded at BBC Maida Vale (Studio 4).
