In the December 2024 issue, Gun Tests shooters, led by Contributing Editor Joe Woolley, tested two well-appointed bolt guns chambered in the 7 PRC cartridge.
They were the Christensen Arms Modern Precision Rifle and the Springfield Armory Waypoint 2020.
Both use Remington 700-pattern receivers, so accessorizing them is a snap.

The Christensen Arms really liked the reloads with Berger bullets and Vihta Vuori powder.
The Springfield Armory Waypoint seemed to shoot everything well.
The Springfield’s fluted bolt body utilizes two opposing lugs, a single plunger-style ejector, and a sliding-plate extractor.
The CA bolt uses dual ejectors and an M16-style extractor.
The bolt bodies, bolt shrouds, and bolt knobs are all fluted for weight savings.
Both rifles use good muzzle brakes to mitigate recoil with these heavier loads. The Christensen is shown at left.
The cheek riser on the Christensen MPR did a great job in lining us up with the scope.
The AG Composite stock on the Waypoint also sports an adjustable riser. Springfield makes returning to the proper height easy with index marks on the posts.
The Christensen MPR buttstock has a hinge with a very solid joint. The rifle's folded size is 9 inches shorter than the extended length.
