Top aides of US President Joe Biden are reportedly considering pre-emptive pardons for Anthony Fauci, Adam Schiff and Liz Cheney.
The decision to issue pardons comes as President-elect Donald Trump will be inaugurated next month.
Fauci has been accused by Republicans and other watchdog groups of lying about COVID-19’s origins.
The doctor has also been accused of using his private email to do government business, according to The New York Post.
Cheney was part of the House of Representatives investigation into the president-elect’s role in the January 6 Capitol Hill riots.
The Republican is also an outspoken critic of the president-elect and was one of the leading figures behind the January 6 investigation.
Schiff himself has been accused of pushing Trump’s alleged collusion with Russia during the 2016 presidential election.
White House counsel Ed Siskel is reportedly leading the pardons, with other officials in Biden’s White House also involved.
