France has a serious problem with Islamic radicalism. Since 2015, more than 250 people have died in Islamic terrorist attacks. And in cities like Paris and Marseilles there are entire neighborhoods where only the police dare enter.
Following the beheading of Samuel Paty – a middle school teacher who showed cartoons of Muhammad in a classroom – French President Emmanuel Macron has launched a campaign to end what he calls "Islamic separatism”. Macron's policy may be questionable, but it is by no means an attack on Islam itself.
The focus of the problem is not on religion but on radicalism. And so Macron wants to do a search of all mosques and Islamic schools in order to dismantle those that promote hatred.
However, this policy has generated some harsh criticism from the Islamic world. The presidents of Turkey and Pakistan have called for a boycott of French products.
But why do they criticize Macron? Why does France have such a problem with Islam? Can Macron's policy really work? In this video we will answer all these questions.
