In a paper published in March 2020 in the journal Nature, a team of scientists from Harvard and MIT describe how they used tiny defects in diamonds to create a device called a quantum repeater. In this video clip, Museum of Science educator Megan Litwhiler discusses how the discovery could enable the expansion of a new form of ultra-secure communication called a quantum internet. The video was filmed on Monday, May 18 2020 as part of the Museum of Science, Boston MOS @ Home online programming with support from the Center for Integrated Quantum Materials (NSF award #1231319).
