El Rio del Tiempo was a day 1 attraction in the Mexico Pavilion in World Showcase in Epcot.
It was supposed to showcase the history and mythology of Mexico, but it failed miserably in that
respect, looking more like a tourism promotion. It opened on October 1, 1982 and closed in early January 2007. "Gran Fiesta Tour Starring The Three Caballeros" would open three months later in April. That video can be found here:

It is also known as, "it's a small mexico" for obvious reasons once you've been on the attraction. It utilizes a water propelled boat ride system, and can supposedly cycle 1600 guests/hour, about half of what they can do at "it's a small world".
The ride starts by floating the boat in between a step pyramid and erupting volcano, and
the table service restaurant (San Angel Inn) inside the pavilion. Much like Pirates at Disneyland,
they parade you in front of people eating. Wait, you say. A step-pyramid inside a step-pyramid? Yes...
