Have you heard the tale of the wealthy land-owner who decided to give it all up to become a pirate?

Stede Bonnet was a noble who was born into a wealthy family in 1688. He inherited his father’s estate when he died and at the age of 21, he married fellow noble Mary Allamby.

Around 7 to 8 years later, he decided to leave his comfortable life, his wife and 2 children behind to purchase a ship he would name Revenge, and turn to the life of piracy. The cause of why he did this is unclear, but some would call it an act triggered by a midlife crisis.
