In this video we explain the rule of 9. Which essentially allows you to adjust the valves in most 4 cylinder cars between 1960-1980. Rule of 9 is as of follows.
All numbers must add up to 9.
Valve 1 + 8 valve = 9
Therefore when valve one is up, valve 8 is down meaning you can adjust valve one and visa versus
2 valve = 7 valve
3 valve = 6 valve
4 valve = 5 valve
