The reduction of carbon dioxide (CO₂) emissions, responsible for global warming and the increase in the planet's temperature, has become one of the main challenges for the international community.

For this reason, at Fal Calzados de Seguridad we have undertaken the commitment to be a Carbon Free company, offsetting 100% of our CO₂ emissions at each stage of production.

WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO BE CARBON FREE?

It is the compensation of 100% of the greenhouse gas emissions that are emitted into the atmosphere in the production of footwear.

WHAT IS CALCULATED?

The tonnes of CO2 emitted each year in the following actions involved in the manufacture of footwear are calculated:

Transport of raw materials received.
Complete manufacture of footwear.
Product promotion: commercial trips etc.
Transport of shipment of goods.
Itinerancy of employees.
Energy consumption and installations.

AFTER CALCULATION, HOW IS IT COMPENSATED?

Trees absorb CO₂ from the atmosphere. With this in mind, we have launched the ‘Chiruca Forest Absorption’ project, a 23-hectare plantation on our own land, where we have planted more than 24,000 trees that contribute to the significant absorption of CO₂.

HOW IT IS DEMONSTRATED

1. Verification of Carbon Footprint through AENOR under the GHG PROTOCOL: ‘CALCULATED CO2 CARBON FOOTPRINT’. Since 2012, we have been pioneers in the certification of the CO2 Carbon Footprint controlled by AENOR.

2. Verification of the calculation, reduction and compensation of the Carbon Footprint through the Ministry of Ecological Transition of the Spanish Government, being the first company to have achieved this.

3. Installation of 539 modules of solar panels in our own facilities, generating 250,800 kWh/year of clean energy.

4. Acquisition of the rest of the electricity needed through renewable energies.
