One of my favorite baits for targeting Australian Bass is the Rapala DT20. This bait comes in a range of colours, it Dives to (DT) 20 ft easily on the cast and is great for targeting fish that are suspended in the thermocline or sitting on the bottom. Made of Balsa, the DT20 is one of Rapalas finest creations.
